2013 Club Day

The weather was excellent for Club Day 2013, especially on the Sunday for the annual parade and fancy dress competition.

The lunch guests at the village hall were treated to a fascinating speech by John Field, president of the Friendly Society, which revealed many interesting facts about the history of the village and former residents.

Later that afternoon trailers were loaded in preparation for setting up marquees on the playing field for Monday's event.

At 9.30am on Monday an army of people were busy setting up marquees and tents in preparation for the afternoon's festivities.
The turnout was excellent, with the village children enjoying a wide variety of events from the bouncy castle and zippy dipper to face painting and guess the name of the ducks. Refreshments were in plentiful supply in the tea tent and also in the bar. The afternoon finished with children's sports and the traditional egg throwing.

Many thanks to everyone who helped to set up and run the activities and to the village community for taking part with enthusiasm.
